Baker uses urine from public toilets to make 'Goldilocks bread'

An enterprising baker from France has been collecting women's urine from public toilets
to bake a type of bread she calls 'Goldilocks bread'.

Louise Raguet who describes herself as an 'eco-feminist',has been using urine to fertilise
wheat, which is used to make her 'Goldilocks bread'.

"Urine is a great fertiliser,"she says, adding that her aim is to "break taboos over
excrement."

But her main objective is to create a sustainable food cycle.

Her process is not very complicated. She first collects urine from female restrooms
and then sprays it on the wheat.

"It's a neglected liquid,usually dismissed as a waste.Should be treated like a goldmine,"
Raguet was quoted by the New York Post. She added that urine has nitrogen,
potassium, and many other nutrients that plants extract from the soil.

But don't start thinking the woman is crazy, there is actual science behind her work.

A study by the French Urban planning agency suggested that nearly 29 million
loaves of urine-utilised bread could be baked each day, resulting in the saving of
703 tonnes of nitrogen found in artificial fertilisers every day.

"When you pee in the water, treatment plants remove the nutrients. They do not
return to the earth. The system is not circular.
It's ideal to replace chemical fertiliser and avoid the pollution they cause"said
Ruguet.

Raguet said she dilutes the urine at least 20 times before using it to fertilise the
bread.

As for her decision to use only female urine,Raguet said it comes from her 'eco-feminist'
beliefs and her interest in creating a female urinal called 'Marcelle' which
is aimed at making it easier for women to urine in public places,
