Haunted Ghost Towns

Ghost towns are so fun to explore. Why are they called ghost towns? Because there's ghosts of course! And not very many people visit our little ghost town here, according to some people, well, just one person in particular. More on that in the comment section. :)

The best virtual ghost town! Spooky!

A haunted ghost town. Would you visit in the dark?

And this lovely gem of a ghost town. Looks inviting!

Woman Dressed Like a Ghost Shot Dead Over Her Prank

My friends south of the border say that many there are superstitious because strange things happen in Mexico. I’m sure the man who opened fire on the poor woman was frightened and thought it was a real entity though I fail to see what good bullets are against one.

A woman was reportedly shot dead after her prank dressing as a ghost to spook her neighbors went horrifically wrong.

The unidentified victim, said to be aged between 20 and 25 years old, was roaming the streets in Naucalpan de Juarez, Mexico, wearing a white gown and veil.

She donned the scary get up in a bid to frighten residents in the neighborhood of San Miguel Doram on October 15.

The woman had dressed up as the Weeping Woman, known as ‘La Llorona’ in Latin America, a ghost who is said to walk the streets mourning her dead children.

According to folklore, the terrifying figure walks the earth in despair after drowning her two children in a river in a fit of rage after seeing her husband with another woman.

Locals said they saw the ghostly woman prowling the area on October 15 while shouting “ay mis hijos” meaning “oh my children”.

One resident filmed the woman’s antics just moments before she was reportedly shot dead with several bullets by a scared neighbor.

According to local reports, the spooked shooter fled after opening fire at the woman.

The Municipal Police have not revealed the victim’s identity and no arrests have been reported in connection with the shooting.

State authorities have reportedly launched an investigation into the shocking incident.

It comes as thousands gear up for Day of the Dead celebrations across Mexico and Halloween.

The video of the Weeping Woman has since been shared across social media as well as a gruesome images allegedly showing the victim.

Children are often told the terrifying tale in a bid to encourage them not to wander off after dark.

Wizard's Contract Won't Be Renewed

Last week a psychic gets sued, this week a wizard gets fired… not a good year for mystic peddlers, and right before Halloween!

The recent decision by the city council of Christchurch, New Zealand to drop Ian Brackenbury Channell from its payroll is reportedly getting attention for the controversy it's causing. Better known as the Wizard of Christchurch, Brackenbury Channell is a local personality, popular with tourists and residents, who's become a fixture at the city's Arts Centre, public events, and even political demonstrations. Instantly recognizable for his long beard, robe, pointed hat, and ornately carved stave, the Wizard's been getting payments from Christchurch for over twenty years as a kind of living work of art with promotional value for the city.

All that's set to change at the end of this year, however. Citing a different direction in the image the City wants to project, a spokesperson explained that the new plan soon won't include the $16,000 it's been paying Brackenbury Channell annually to "provide acts of wizardry and other wizard-like-services."

So far, the Wizard's reaction to the bad news hasn't involved any vengeful spells or sorcery—but he's had plenty to say about the decision. He'll continue to appear in public at his usual hangouts, he stated, despite falling out of favor with the "bureaucrats who have no imagination" who declined to renew his contract.

"They will have to kill me to stop me," Brackenbury Channell vowed.

Star Trek's William Shatner blasts into space on Blue Origin rocket

Hollywood actor William Shatner has become the oldest person to go to space as he blasted off aboard the Blue Origin sub-orbital capsule.

The 90-year-old, who played Captain James T Kirk in the Star Trek films and TV series, took off from the Texas desert with three other individuals.

Mr Shatner's trip on the rocket system - developed by Amazon.com founder Jeff Bezos - lasted about 10 minutes.

The craft safely landed just after 10:00 local time (16:00 BST).

Those aboard got to experience a short period of weightlessness as they climbed to a maximum altitude just above 100km (60 miles). From there they were able to see the curvature of the Earth through the capsule's big windows.

"Everybody in the world needs to do this," the Canadian actor told Mr Bezos after landing back on Earth. "It was unbelievable."
