On September 14, 1814, US soldiers at Fort McHenry raised a large American flag after defeating the British during the War of 1812. The sight of the flag inspired Francis Scott Key to write the song that became the US national anthem.

International Left Handers Day

 International Left Handers Day is an international day observed annually on August 13 to celebrate the uniqueness and differences of left-handed individuals. The day was first observed in 1976 by Dean R. Campbell, founder of the Left-handers Club.

National Dog Month!

Milk-Bone brand (The J.M. Smucker Company) founded National Dog Month in 2020 to recognize all the ways dogs make our lives better. The Registrar at National Day proclaimed National Dog Month to be observed each year in August.

Leo Dog (July 23 – August 22): The Alpha Dog. A Leo dog is born to be a leader and that can prove problematic if he or she is not going to be an only dog child. Luckily, Leo dogs have sunny dispositions, are friendly, and really seem to like other dogs.
